I was so focused on the logistics around the cruise -- getting a present, getting to Long Beach, flying Jen home for an exam while I drove the girls back -- that I don't think I really grasped the half-century thing. What's most amazing, I think, is that it doesn't feel amazing to me at all. It feels exactly the way it should be and has always been for me: my folks, together, showing the rest of us a good time.
