Buracho in Mexico
Ensenada

I suspect that somewhere out there, beyond
the souvenir shops and restaurants selling
buckets of beer, there is another Mexico. But
it will have to wait for another day. For this day,
a neat strip of shops and cafes,
conveniently laid out for gringos
like us, was just right for a few blocks for strolling,
For $8 US, I bought a marionette (whom I named buracho,
in a momentary lapse of political correctness), and Ellie spent a few
weeks' allowance on a little senorita
outfit. Then we headed back for the lunchtime buffet.
From the ship's deck, I saw there was more
out there -- roads, beaches, mountains, even a beached cargo ship.
But for today, this was enough.
