In the late afternoon, we took a cruise up the Bosporus
to see some of the city from the water.
Years ago, on my 32nd birthday, Jen and I took another cruise
up this waterway, all the way to the place where the Bosporus
meets reaches the Black Sea. We climbed up to the ruins of an
old Crusader castle, and I got a shave with a straight-edge
razor in a barber shop in that little port town. It was an
unusual experience, must have taken an hour or more, with lots
of time under hot towels and even a break in the middle when the
barber's boy brought apple tea over from the shop across the street,
on one of those little silver tea trays.
