I landed at Tegel on Friday morning, three days before my meetings were
scheduled to start in Berlin -- still not sure how I would spend those three
days. My original plan of flying to Sarajevo had fallen through, and having
tried unsuccessfully to change my plans to travel later, I hadn't made other
plans.
But the idea of traveling to Vienna, to try to learn a little more about
the original crown prince Rudolf resonated with me. Outside Tegel, I found
a bus going to the Hauptbahnhoff. There, I asked about Vienna. A train
was leaving in 45 minutes, allowing enough time for a warm pretzel and
cappucino before settling in for a beautiful, all-day ride through Germany
and Bohemia.
