When this showed up in my feed back in the fall, I
was blown away at the chance to experience The Wizard
of Oz with winds blowing leaves during the tornado scene
and apples falling from the enchanted trees! Seats were
$800 in the fall, so I bought months ahead, and we finally
got to go out and see it in January.
It was an amazing experience! One of the most immersive
scenes was in the witch's tower. When the camera moves
in on the scene with her and the flying monkey looking
into the crystal ball, you move into her chamber, complete
with a creepy chandelier above and walls all around!
The only spoiler was that they had trimmed it to run
only about an hour. And since I know every line, I kept
cringing every time they cut a good one. But I tried to
calm myself: "This is their interpretation of this film."
We made a nice weekend out of it, with a two-night stay
at Nobu (a boutique hotel within Caesar's) and an
excellent dinner at Superfrico!
