Call it a 28-hour picnic: we drove out through Bodega to meet up
with Shawn & Bruce for a picnic at Doran Beach. But high winds made
a BBQ impractical, so after enjoying some time in the chairs, we drove
on back to their place, opened their patio and fire pit for the season,
and settled in for BBQ chicken and beers. Chris came by with his guitar and
played a little flamenco for us -- one of my favorite treats. We crashed in
their guest cabin. Ellie and I took an early spa at 6:30am, after which I
ran down to the Union Hotel for some pastries and tarts. After 18 hours
or so, we figured we were close to wearing out our welcome, so we
waved goodbye and motored east.
Maybe we should have come home, but lunch at Willow Wood in Graton
sounded appealing so we stopped and dined there. After, a shopping
spree at Harmony Farms suited us up with starts of expensive organic
veggie plants. And then -- still unable to cross 101 -- we headed out
Gravenstein to the cottage, to make sure the boats were safe and
to enjoy an evening on the porch.
Eventually, we had to come home and feed the cat.
