Yesterday afternoon we were in The Wishing Well, a craft and party supply store,
buying decorations for Baby Katie's birthday party. Five minutes before closing,
a young woman rushes in asking if they have any American flags left. Cashier just
smiles and shakes her head no. She's probably been hearing it all week.
My mom had given us a flag that we mounted back on the
Fourth, earlier this year. When we put it up,
a neighbor decided to get one, too, but found after calling around that there
were none to be found in town.
