Beached

We stopped at a market in Pismo Beach for sandwiches
and settled in on the pier to eat them, where we saw
four or more Lifeguard and Sheriff's trucks on the beach.
A ski boat had washed ashore, its prop stuck in the sand.
For this, they called out the troops, including an elite
jet ski squad that tried to pull the craft loose. Meanwhile,
the skipper and crew waded ashore, bellies hanging out of
their loose ski vests, laughing and smoking cigars. The
sheriffs appeared to be enjoying the excitement, even though
some in the crowd were whispering about drunken boaters
and impending arrests.
