Back to Ol Pejeta Conservancy in the Central Highlands, looking at zebras, I repeat something I read in Guns, Germs and Steel: that zebras wouldn't allow men to ride them the way horses will, and imagine how world history might have been different if Africans had lucked out with access to a powerful assistant animal the way that Asia-Europeans had in the horse.
Later, Em adds, "But imagine if they could have ridden the rhinoceros! We'd all be speaking Swahili today!"
