A Cat We Didn't Get

By late January, we were down three pets from our comfortable position of five.
Em spotted this litter of gray and white kittens, happily frolicking and occasionally fed by a homeless guy
who sleeps under the Willow Street overpass.
We rode over to see if we could take one home. This guy caught my eye, and
I immediately started calling him (or her) Patches. He looked pretty solid.
But in the end, I couldn't bring myself to take him away from the idyllic
life he appeared to be enjoying with his brothers and sisters.
So we rode on.
