Six Flags' Magic Mountain

Santa Clarita

We started out the road trip by stopping at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, to pick up a hat that lost-and-found was holding from our recent visit. And we ended the drive with a stop at Six Flags Magic Mountain, where Jen had her very first job when she was 16, handing out churros and dancing to Oingo Boingo. There, the daughters got to ride the world's first roller coaster with a 360-degree loop, The Revolution-- tame by today's standards, but still a pretty good thrill.

We also got a chance to stop by The Timbermill, the old restaurant where Jen was a waitress when I met her at UCLA. I was so smitten in those first weeks that I drove out to Magic Mountain from Westwood one afternoon and paid for park admission just so I could sit in her section and watch her while I studied.
