Em and I sat at one of those tippy tables in front of a coffee shop, while Jen & Ellie went back to a children's clothing store to buy a traveling windbreaker for Ellie. Em read the comics while I perused world news.
"If you could be anywhere in the world right now, Dad, for free, where would you want to be?"
I took a sip of my latte and looked around 2nd Street, soaking in midwinter sun, watching the DINKs walking their dogs, the women in dolphin shorts and ugg boots.
"Be pretty tough to beat right here, I think, Em."
