The Last Business Trip Ever?

London
October 10-13, 2022

After three years with no business travel, it was a pleasant surprise to be invited along with all the other marketing leads to London. Got to meet in person folks that I'd worked with over Zoom calls for years. They took real good care of us: put us up at the posh Old Scotland Yard hotel, just steps from Trafalgar Square and the office, took us out to drinks and dinner, gave us a treasure hunt around central London -- showed us a real good time.

So, it would have been churlish to be ungrateful when, during one of the final sessions, they shared a slide on screen showing how the firm's commitments to reduce emissions would quickly zero-out "internal travel" (that's us), given the need to maintain carbon budget for real client work.

We looked around the room. Nice to see you all ... if only for this one last time. Then, we made our way by boat down the Thames to dinner in the shadow of The Tower, where, like condemned men and women, we thoroughly enjoyed our last supper.
