After dropping off the day's Krispy Kreme donut at the convalescent home (plain glazed), we tried to take the girls up Angeles Crest Highway to see snow on Mt. Wilson. Caltrans turned us back a few miles before the turnoff, where we parked along with two dozen other cars and minivans and stood in the falling snow watching it melt as it hit the ground.

That was fun for about five minutes, so we headed back down the mountain for some indoor entertainment, found it at the County Museum of Natural History, where dinosaurs are always a sure hit -- and an inspiration.
