LinuxWorld
New York City
January 31, 2001

The stench of death hangs over this place. Last January, Linux millionaires strutted cockily through the exhibit hall, showing a special breed of arrogance that comes only from being 24 and having become a multimillionaire just by doing a geeky thing you like to do.

But last year seems like a long time ago. The energy is gone, and it's just a low level IT show. The show planners told me that 400 press were registered. That's compared to 1500 registered at MacWorld earlier this month.
