Bridging Ceremony
Golden Gate Bridge

The only other time we tried to walk across the Golden Gate Bridge,
maybe sometime in the 1980s, I seem to remember Jen and I walking for
what seemed like hours and hours, finally giving up somewhere mid-span
and heading back to the car.
So I was a little skeptical when we looked into it for the Bridging ceremony
for Emily's girl scout troop, an event marking their passage from junior to
full girl scouts. Online sources said the walk would take about 15 to 20 minutes.
I thought it might be more like 15 hours.
But I guess I had it confused with Mt. Whitney. A group of us, kids and parents
made the crossing in a forced march of about 20 minutes, then celebrated our
new girl scouts at the vista point in Marin.
At the bottom, the sassy little sisters of this troop
seem to pack a lot of attitude wherever they go.
