I texted Kristen in Brooklyn: "I left work early, now I'm in a little red car driving through Orange County to meet Jen at Disneyland. Clearly, it's 1992."

I crashed for a couple of weeks at the firm's Orange County office so that we could live a little of the life we left behind, the Southern California beach existence.
