I know to most people, the idea of driving across Texas -- or the whole country! -- would fill them with dread. But it was the most fun, and reminded me of great road trips from the old days.
A long road trip is a kind of therapy. Those vast stretches of Western Highways allow ample time to talk and listen and laugh. On the road to Austin, Emmy played some Bo Burnham songs off YouTube, and I laughed so hard I was a little afraid I might choke or suffocate.
