They insist this statue looming over the Missouri River
at a Lewis and Clark Museum is not Sacajawea, but a representation
of all Lakota and Dakota people. (I'm sure we're not the only ones
who made that mistake.) The museum also has a good replica of the
boat used by the Corps of Discovery Expedition, one you can climb
inside and feel the size of.
We also stopped in at the Laura Ingalls Wilder homestead in DeSmet,
the location of the later books in the Little House series, before
crossing Minnesota and into Wisconsin for a long, summer stay.
