Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder

I don't know where they got such a thing, but somehow some people we know showed up with a bottle of absinthe. Apparently, the fabled liquer is banned stateside, but enjoyed sparingly by our European friends. Like Thing 1 and Thing 2 springing from their box, our friends landed in the kitchen and unleashed their diabolical licorice cocktails on us, wreaking havoc on our suburban weekend.
